Conference Focus
Persuasive Technology 2007 was a "sold out" event that brought together 170 people interested in how computers can change people's beliefs and behaviors. Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, this conference featured the best new insights into how video games, mobile phone apps, and web sites can be designed to motivate and influence people.

During our two days at Stanford University, we heard from 38 experts who each talked for 10 minutes -- a fast, stimulating program with open time for questions and discussion. This event was a landmark in captology. Never before have so many people gathered to share so many new ideas on this topic.

Those who attended are looking forward to Persuasive Technology 2008 in Europe.

Program Overview
The Persuasive 2007 program grouped the 38 presentations into 13 areas:

- Technology that Motivates Health Behavior
- Persuading People with Video Games
- New Form Factors for Persuasive Technology
- Surrounded by High-tech Persuasion
- Controlling People by Using Digital Punishment
- Technology that Motivates Groups to Unify
- How Peers Influence You Online
- New Insights into Web Persuasion
- Persuasive Agents on the Screen
- Using Digital Images to Persuade
- Persuasion via Mobile Phones
- Insights into Persuasion Principles
- Perspectives on Persuasive Technology

Our keynote speakers were
Clifford Nass, Jeremy Bailenson, and Karen Pryor. Each brought a surprising perspective to persuasive technology.

We thank those who helped make Persuasive 2007 a success, and we look forward to next year's event in Europe.
